Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago

The Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine is pleased to announce the availability of a fellowship in Child Abuse Pediatrics (CAP). The fellowship is a three year academic appointment, with the next fellow position available in July, 2016. The CAP fellow will work in conjunction with our multidisciplinary Protective Services Team, comprised of 3 board certified child abuse pediatricians, radiologists, social workers, psychologists, a child protection services representative, and other professionals involved in the care of a particular child. The team provides comprehensive assessments and facilitates interventions for child victims of abuse and neglect who present to Lurie Children’s Hospital.  The large volume of patients treated at the hospital provides an optimal learning experience for our fellows.  The CAP fellow will also receive focused training on child sexual abuse at the Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center.  In addition to patient care, the CAP fellow will learn to provide effective court testimony, will assist in educating medical and non-medical personnel, and will learn how to advocate for policy that will improve care and treatment of maltreated children.  Independent research is expected and supported. Upon completion of the fellowship, the physician will be a medical expert who is knowledgeable and competent in all areas of child abuse and neglect. This fellowship is directed at training physicians who will pursue careers in academic settings.
