Mission

The mission of the International Child Protection Development Committee is to create sustainable improvements in expertise and collaboration between the medical, mental health, legal and social service agencies that respond to child maltreatment in low-income and middle-income countries

Our Goals

1) To grow Helfer’s partnerships with international organizations who share our mission.

2) To pursue funding for Helfer members to develop international child protection projects.

3) To become recognized in the international community as a leader in creating comprehensive, multidisciplinary, sustainable partnerships for child protection.

Purpose of this site

The purpose of this site is to share our work in order to spark new connections and ideas for growth:

MEMBERS provides contact information for all 34 Helfer members of the International Child Protection Development (ICPD) Committee and lists the low- and middle-income countries in which they have worked or lived.

OUR WORK is organized by country and provides a summary of all the international child protection development activities of Helfer members:
  • Who is working in different countries?  How did they get started?  Who funded it?
  • What is the scope of the work?  How are we ensuring sustainability if we just visit for short periods?
  • What are the key lessons we are learning?
PARTNERS is a list of international organizations who have helped Helfer members in their work, from funding to assisting in program development and fostering key relationships.  The list of partners at the country level is provided in OUR WORK.

NEW PROJECTS describes the new partnerships and projects that have resulted because of the increased collaboration of the International Child Protection Development Committee.

RESOURCES will soon provide a list of resources ranging from international development to child maltreatment curriculum development.
