1949  graduated from medical school at UCSF

1950 to 1955 internship and residency in pediatrics Various San Francisco hospitals

1955 to 1958 fellowships in infectious diseases.  State of California, virus laboratory, and UCLA Department of pediatrics.

1958 to 1968 Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, and USC school of medicine, hospital-based pediatric practice involving all sorts of sick and injured

 children.  First recognition of children with injuries resulting from abuse,

(battered child syndrome)

1968 to 1985.  Medical director Children's Hospital and health Center, San Diego

1985 to 1997 Director, Center for Child protection.  Children's Hospital San Diego.  Now renamed Chadwick Center for Children and Families, Rady Children's Hospital and health Center, San Diego

1997,   Retired.  Medical consultant in child abuse pediatrics.
